LST Projects is proud to have delivered a new detached extension at Warden Park School part of the Sussex Learning Trust, designed to significantly enhance the school’s provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The 275m² development has been carefully designed to provide dedicated SEND facilities that support both students and staff. The new building includes classrooms, sensory rooms and a range of supporting spaces, all tailored to create a more appropriate and supportive learning environment.
A key feature of the scheme is its seamless connection to the existing school, improving accessibility and ensuring the building integrates effectively into day-to-day school life.

Increasing Capacity and Improving Support
The project increases the school’s SEND capacity to 32 spaces, enabling Warden Park School to support more students while also improving the quality of provision available.
For students, the new environment is designed to better support learning, daily routines and overall wellbeing. For staff, purpose-built spaces provide the opportunity to deliver more effective, tailored support in a setting that meets the specific needs of SEND education.

Sustainability and performance were central to the design. The building incorporates modern heating and ventilation systems alongside photovoltaic panels, helping to create a comfortable internal environment while improving energy efficiency.
The works were delivered within a live school setting, requiring careful planning and coordination throughout. Particular attention was given to the school’s examination timetable, ensuring disruption to students and staff was kept to a minimum during critical periods.

A Collaborative Approach
This project was delivered in partnership with Sussex Learning Trust and Kendall Kingscott Ltd, with a shared focus on creating a facility that meets both current and future needs.
Supporting the Future of SEND Education
The completed extension represents a clear improvement on the school’s existing facilities, providing a high-quality environment that supports students, staff and the wider school community.
As demand for SEND provision continues to grow, projects like this play a vital role in ensuring schools are equipped with the spaces and resources needed to deliver meaningful, long-term support.
